Sir mouse at your service

Say hello to a mouse who thinks he’s a swashbuckling hero in the animated adventure The Tale of Despereaux

In the movie Ratatouille, we met a rat named Remy who could converse with humans and believed he was destined to be a gourmet chef.

In the movie The Tale of Despereaux, we meet a mouse named Despereaux Tilling who can also talk to humans and believes he’s destined to be a hero.

Despereaux lives in the kingdom of Dor with his family, but the little mouse with the big ears isn’t like the other mice in Mouseworld — he’s adventurous and unafraid of humans. In fact, he befriends the Princess Pea, who lives in her father’s gloomy castle. The sad princess teaches Despereaux to read, and he particularly loves stories involving brave knights, fierce dragons and damsels in distress.

However, the other mice don’t approve of Depereaux’s different ways and they banish him to a dungeon. But prison walls can’t hold Despereaux! He escapes and discovers Princess Pea has been kidnapped. Now it’s up to the mouse with the overactive imagination to rescue the princess and save the day.

The Tale of Despereaux opens December 19
