The Other GuysOther Guys Sneak Peek

An exclusive look at hilarious, uncensored scenes with Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg!

Branagh on Thor: A world of Shakespeare and superheroes

Thor at Comic-ConKenneth Branagh is directing Thor for Marvel Studios, and some think it's a stretch for him to take on a superhero movie. He's more Shakespearean, having adapted several of the Bard's films for the big screen.

But the 49-year-old actor/director says Shakespeare's characters aren't unlike today's superheroes.

After all, as Branagh points out, Shakespeare wrote about "Henry V" centuries after his reign, and turned the king into a sort of superhero who could do no wrong.

Wes Craven tweets pic of new Ghostface

By Andrea Miller | Friday, July 30, 2010 | On the movies | () Comments

Ghostface Horror movie master Wes Craven is hard at work on Scream 4, the unexpectedly well-cast fourth part in the smart aleck, self-referential series that started 14 years ago (what?!) with Drew Barrymore getting killed off before the credits rolled and almost made a star out of Skeet Ulruch. Almost.

A mere 15 hours ago, Craven took to twitter to offer the world a look at the new Ghostface and, as one would expect from a killer who chooses to hide behind a silent-scream-skeleton mask, it appears not much has changed.

Take a look at the image and let us know what you think.

Mark Wahlberg gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Mark Wahlberg Rapper-turned-underwear model-turned-Oscar-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg has been enshrined in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 39-year-old actor was presented with a star Thursday on Hollywood Boulevard's famed sidewalk monument.

Will Ferrell, who stars with Wahlberg in the action-comedy The Other Guys being released next week, was on hand for the ceremony. The comedian got in a couple of digs.

"I'm glad to be here," Ferrell said. "I first became a fan of Mark's when I bought his workout video. And I love all your Bourne movies."

The Bourne films star Matt Damon, not Wahlberg.

Way to go, internet - Thor trailer pops up online

Thor

Fresh from its much-hyped debut at Comic-Con, the trailer for Kenneth Branagh's Thor has appeared online and we have it for you right now!

It seems viewers are in for another raucous ride, following a conflicted superhero (Aussie hotness Chris Hemsworth) who has to subdue personal demons before he can reclaim his rightful place in line for his father Odin's crown. But first, a mighty tumble to Earth promises to sort things out and force Thor to lose his arrogant ways and, you know, release that sacred hammer. As far as being banished goes, you could do worse than meeting Natalie Portman's Jane Foster.

The trailer also shows us the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, some face-fire-shooting creation fittingly called The Destroyer and a very shirtless Hemsworth.

Dig in and let us know what you think in the comments!

Festival announces 79 world premieres for Venice

Somewhere Sofia Coppola's comic drama Somewhere and Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan will make their world premieres at the Venice Film Festival.

The films are among 22 movies from 11 countries competing for the prestigious Golden Lion.

Festival director Marco Mueller told a news conference Thursday that Aronofsky's movie had knocked The American starring George Clooney out of the opening slot. In the end, Clooney's picture wasn't in the festival lineup and Mueller said it will instead open to U.S. audiences that day.

German director Tom Tykwer (Run, Lola, Run) will premier his movie Drei and Tunisian-born director Abdellatif Kechiche will be back in Venice with Venus Noire.

In all, 79 world premieres will be shown at Venice from September 1-11.

The fans have gone home, the costumes have been put away, and the stars and celebs have all returned to the sets from whence they came. That's right, another year of Comic-Con has come and gone. The annual celebration of the popular arts brought with it the usual hype, headlines and hordes of humanity but it also brought with it something new: me! I got to experience the Con in person for the very first time. I reveled in the chaos and craziness as I unleashed my inner-geek and let it loose on a 4-day blitz of everything movie, television and fan-related it could find! By the end of the third day, I was running on pure adrenaline, and by the 4th day I could barely stand-up due to line-up fatigue but somehow I made it through and made my way back home in one piece. If I were to list everything that struck me as memorable, we'd be here all night so I've narrowed it down to what I consider to be the very best of the best for Comic-Con 2010. Take a look!

Scott Pilgrim

The Hollywood premiere of the hotly-anticipated Pop-Art-live-comic-book-romantic-comedy-Michael-Cera-flick Scott Pilgrim vs the World, filmed in your very own background if you call Toronto home, had everything one could hope to have at a fancy film opening and a few things you didn't even know you wanted.

We're talking Thomas Jane avec giant stogie, mega-talented Alison Pill pulling a Kristen Stewart (ie. wearing a scowl that says she'd rather be anywhere else), Jason Schwartzman and his impressive moustache, Nick Frost just, you know, showing up, deadpan diva Aubrey Plaza going all sexy with a tattered, revealing dress and of course Michael Cera pulling faces and looking somewhere between awkward and uncomfortable. At least he's consistent. And funny.

Check out all the madness now!

French first lady begins latest Woody Allen flick

Woody Allen France's first lady, a former supermodel turned songstress, is making her debut as an actress, filming this week in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris.

Even her busy husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, wasn't about to miss the action. He showed up on the Left Bank set Tuesday, in dark suit but no tie, to watch his spouse in her latest creative venture.

Allen, beloved by the French, recruited Carla Bruni-Sarkozy last fall for what is said to be a small role in the romantic comedy which follows a family travelling in Paris for business. France's first lady reportedly plays a museum director.
